Hello there,
Welcome to another week of my weekly notes.
This week started with great news: I received AWS Community Builder swag from the AWS Community Builder team.
I shared a post about it on LinkedIn, and it became my most-liked post ever.
Recently, I wrote about Node Package Managers (PNPM, NPM, and YARN) and the Network File System on LinkedIn. I plan to continue writing on LinkedIn to enhance my knowledge and networking skills, connecting with a broader audience. I aim to write more about human-centric software development and how developers can maximize their job experiences. I believe this will be beneficial for freshers and industry professionals alike.
On July 27, 2024, I will participate in an online meeting via Zoom titled “Working with Tamil Content in Computing Environment.” I will give a brief presentation on the challenges I faced using automatic Tamil font conversion libraries for converting different fonts to Unicode. I am grateful to Natkeeran for this opportunity.
Additionally, I designed the session poster for social media sharing. Both Tamil and English versions were created, and I have attached them here for your reference. This was my first step in designing posters, and I hope I did my best.
Except for the special things mentioned above, the rest of the days were spent on scheduling interview timetables and related stuff for the Uki Kilinochchi cohort. For the online cohort, this week, NoSQL-MongoDB & connecting Mongo DB with Node JS, along with performing CRUD operations, were taught.
Volunteer/Non-Profit Works
This week, worked on creating a project proposal plan document for the Noolaham integrated website. I did a draft document mentioning the process we have to do & the estimated server budget and stuff. This is my first ever project proposal planning document draft. Hoping to start the migration process soon. The main reason I want to do the migration is because of the outdated tech stack and low-performance system we have right now. At some point, anything would happen. We should take the necessary steps to protect ourselves from any vast destruction. Natkeeran mentioned that he, too, will help with this migration process. Let’s see how it goes in the upcoming weeks.
Exercise/Fitness
As usual, there is no progress. I don’t want to make any excuses for this. I will leave this block as empty.
Side Projects & Freelance
I feel so happy that I made a considerable amount of progress with my blog app. Almost all backend development is completed with Nest JS. Currently working on the frontend alignments and responsiveness. I need to work on Continuous Deployment automation work for both frontend & backend. The Quill JS text editor is super easy to have a JavaScript open-source Rich Text Editor.. It works perfectly with Next JS. Here are the screenshots:
Even though I am not good at UI/UX, I will push myself to make it as beautiful as I can.
With freelance work, I got a message from a. person to implement a Vector database-related task with Rust. Both the vector database & rust are very new to me. I took this as a challenge and learned about Cosine similarity implementation and the basic level of rust. But I am sure I cannot work on advanced things on this task. I need to be super clear on this and should need to let him know of this as well. Let’s see. Learning new things will also help us to explore a lot.
A new habit:
I read Balyakala Sakhi, a Malayalam novel written by Vaikom Basheer about 2 young hearts and their love. I was totally out of this world after reading the book. I am looking forward to making a small YouTube video on this story by storytelling in English. Let me see the possibility. Just awesome.
And that’s how my whole week went. Looking forward to a more adventurous week ahead.
Till then, bye-bye, see you.
